Insurance for Education, Training & Childcare

Education, Training & Childcare Insurance

Whether you’re running a childcare centre or a corporate training firm, you have a duty of care to everyone who comes through your doors — and the risks are higher than you might think.

Common Risks

Covers You Might Need

Public Liability

Covers injuries or property damage linked to your operations. A student trips on a loose mat in your centre and needs medical care — this is covered.

Professional Indemnity

Protects you if your teaching, advice, or assessment is claimed to have caused harm or loss. Example: Incorrect certification leads to a client’s loss of work contracts.

Property Insurance

Covers your buildings, classrooms, and equipment. From fire to vandalism, you’ll be able to repair or replace quickly.

Cyber Insurance

Protects personal data stored in your systems.

Management Liability

Covers directors, owners, and managers against certain legal claims.

Why Work with Luma

We understand your responsibility to protect people — and we make sure your insurance lives up to it.

FAQs

Does Public Liability cover 'playground accidents'?

It covers you if the accident happened because of something you could have prevented—like a broken swing or a slippery floor that wasn’t mopped. Kids will be kids, but if a parent claims your facility was unsafe, Public Liability pays for the legal defence and any settlements. It’s your safety net for when “play” turns into a “claim.”

While Public Liability is for physical trips and falls, Professional Indemnity is for “mental” or “educational” mistakes. If you’re a training RTO and you teach a course incorrectly, or provide a certificate that turns out to be invalid, a student could sue you for their lost time and tuition fees. PI protects you.

A huge one. Childcare centres and schools are honeypots for hackers because they hold sensitive information like birth certificates and health records. If your system is breached, you aren’t just facing a tech issue; you’re facing a massive PR and legal nightmare. Cyber Insurance helps pay for the specialists to fix the leak and notify the families.

Because it’s a “specialised” industry, many brokers use that as an excuse to bake in higher commissions (up to 30%). At Luma, we don’t think educating the next generation should come with a hidden tax. We strip out those commissions and charge a flat, fair fee. You see exactly what the insurer gets and exactly what we get.

That’s where Management Liability steps in. Whether it’s an unfair dismissal claim or an allegation that the directors didn’t follow safety regulations, this cover protects the people running the show. It ensures a workplace dispute doesn’t personally bankrupt the owners or board members.

Proof that we’ve got your back.
