FAQs
Does my Public Liability cover "high-risk" activities?
It depends on the “thrill level.” A standard policy might cover a walking tour but balk at bungee jumping. At Luma, we don’t do “one size fits all.” We’ll look at exactly what you do—whether it’s wine tasting or white-water rafting—and make sure your policy actually covers the specific risks of your adventure. No “hidden exclusions” that leave you stranded.
What if a storm ruins the weekend and I have to refund everyone?
This is where Tour Cancellation insurance is your best mate. If a cyclone, bushfire, or freak weather event makes it unsafe to head out, you’re often stuck with costs you can’t recover. This cover helps protect your out-of-pocket expenses so a bad weather week doesn’t sink your whole month’s profit.
My gear is portable—is it covered away from my base?
Most “standard” business policies only cover stuff while it’s locked up at your office. If you’re taking bikes, kayaks, or cameras out into the wild, you need General Property (or Portable Equipment) cover. This ensures that if a bike gets pinched from the trailer or a drone takes a swim in the ocean, you aren’t paying for the replacement out of your own pocket.
Why is tourism insurance usually so expensive?
Because brokers often see “Tourism” and think “High Risk = High Commission.” They might be taking a massive cut of your premium as a “finder’s fee.” At Luma, we strip that away. We charge a transparent fee for our work, and you pay the actual price the insurer charges. It’s a fairer way to do business, especially for seasonal operators.
What happens if my transport van is off the road?
If your van is stuck in the shop after an accident and you can’t run your tours, you’re losing more than just the repair cost—you’re losing bookings. Business Interruption can help cover that lost income while your wheels (or boats) are being fixed. It keeps the cash flowing even when the tours have stopped.
